Worst Dragon Ball Z Protagonists

Updated: May 19, 2020

1. Chi-chi.

Chi-chi is even worse in Dragon Ball Z than she was in Dragon Ball. She ignores the fact that her husband is in critical condition after fighting the Saiyans in order to focus on Gohan who has minimal injuries. She attempts to thwart Gohan in his attempt to go to planet Namek to revive his friends with the Dragon Balls, claiming that he needs to study. After initially being wary of Videl, she wants Gohan to marry her for her money. Need I say more?

2. Yamcha.

Yamcha was great in Dragon Ball. Funny, cool, and strong. In Dragon Ball Z, He has scars on his face to suggest that he is a seasoned warrior. Unfortunately, he is becomes weak relative to the other Z fighters as time goes on. During the battle with the Saiyans, an exploding Saibaman immediately kills Yamcha. When fighting the Androids, Dr. Gero, an antagonist who isn’t even that strong, skewers Yamcha with his arm. Yamcha became synonymous with the act of being defeated instantly in Dragon Ball Z.

3. Supreme Kai (Lord of Lords).

As the Lord of Lords, Supreme Kai is the highest of all immortals in the Dragon Ball Z universe. When Supreme Kai was first introduced, he had this really badass aura about him. However, he turns out to be incredibly weak and is absolutely stunned by the power of Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan. Even Toriyama viewed Supreme Kai as non-essential, allowing him to be permanently fused with Kibito for all eternity.

4. Yajirobe.

As in Dragon Ball, Yajirobe is a bit of a coward. During the battle against Vegeta in the Saiyan Saga, he spends most of his time hiding. He has a heroic moment cutting off Vegeta’s tail in ape form, but quickly runs away after that. Yajirobe also disloyal. When Vegeta threatens Yajirobe’s life, Yajirobe offers to work for Vegeta.

5. Uub.

At the end of the Dragon Ball Z series, Goku has his sights set on… Uub? Despite being a reincarnation of Kid Buu, Uub is timid. His design makes him look like a starved Indian child and he has no character development. We are disappointed to see Goku’s happily-ever-after depend on the development of someone who is basically a stranger.
