1. Monkey D. Luffy.
Luffy is the pure-hearted and ambitious captain of the Straw-Hat crew who aspires to obtain One Piece and become Pirate King. Although Luffy doesn’t have the seriousness a stereotypical pirate captain, he has the unwavering respect of his crew and the notoriety among the Marines. Luffy’s coolest trait is that he can often overwhelm his opponents with pure grit, taking painful blows to the body in order to damage his opponents, such as Kuro, Don Krieg, and Arlong. Able to smile in the face of death, Luffy is my favorite One Piece character.
2. Roronoa Zolo.
Zolo is Luffy’s first mate and exhibits a cool composure. Like Luffy, Zolo has great ambition and focus, as he desires nothing more than to become the world’s greatest swordsman. Like Luffy, Zolo has an incredible tolerance for pain. He also has great pride. When Zolo fails to defeat Hawk-Eye, he reveals his front side towards him, stating “wounds on the back are a swordsman’s shame”. Zolo also states that he has never done anything that he regrets.
3. Sanji.
“My job is to feed people, not judge them. It gets too complicated”. A ladies man, beautiful women are the only people that can make Sanji lose his cool. Despite this silly weakness, Sanji is incredible powerful, as he uses kicks to take down strong opponents. He states that he uses his feet to battle so as to protect and reserve his hands for cooking. Sanji holds his profession as a cook close to his heart, feeding the scummy yet dangerous Don Krieg at the risk of his home, the Baratie, being destroyed. His dedication towards his craft is admirable, and Luffy doesn’t hesitate to attempt recruiting Sanji to his crew.
4. Dracule “Hawk-eye” Mihawk.
“Without subtlety, a sword is but an iron bar.” He is the rival of Luffy’s hero, Red-Haired Shanks.Hawk-eye is the world’s greatest swordsman, and the man Zolo has dedicated his life to defeat. Oda’s design for Hawk-eye’s appearance is my favorite in the series. He looks like a badass. He also wields a badass looking sword, the Black Blade. Able to split a galleon in half with one slash, he is incredibly powerful. Extremely confident in his skills, he accepts Zolo’s challenge using a small dagger as a weapon. Guess what? He wins the fight.
5. Red-shoes Zeff.
“You tried to take on the Grand Line, but you ran scared, eh?” Zeff exhibits compassion, having saved Sanji’s life and having welcomed misfit cooks into his home, the Baratie. According to Don Krieg, Zeff in his dyed his shoes in his enemies’ blood, and was able to leave footprints in steel in his prime. Able to spend a year on the Grand Line as captain the cook-pirates, Zeff is presumed to have been very strong. Gruff with a take-no-nonsense attitude, he is Sanji’s idol.
